The influenza vaccine protects against both influenza virus types A and B which cause seasonal influenza (also known as the flu). The influenza vaccine is released twice a year to protect against the latest strains of influenza A and B.
Who should get the Influenza Vaccine?

- Pregnant women (any trimester)

How is the vaccine given?
- The influenza vaccine is given as an injection into the arm
- One dose is recommended every year for optimal protection
What are the common side effects of the vaccine?
- Pain or swelling over the injection site
- Fever, body aches, tiredness
- Severe allergic reactions: rashes, eye swelling, lip swelling or difficulty breathing
