The flu vaccination is recommended for all adults
It is strongly recommended for the following high-risk populations:
Individuals aged 65 years and above
Pregnant women (any trimester)
People with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart/ lung/ kidney/ liver diseases
Immunocompromised individuals (including patients on long-term steroids/ cancer drugs)
Healthcare workers
Frequent travellers
How is the vaccine given?
The influenza vaccine is given as an injection into the arm
One dose is recommended every year for optimal protection
What are the common side effects of the vaccine?
Pain or swelling over the injection site
Fever, body aches, tiredness
Severe allergic reactions: rashes, eye swelling, lip swelling or difficulty breathing
