What is Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS)?
To provide convenient and affordable healthcare for needy elderly and disabled Singaporeans, the Ministry of Health (MOH) started the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS), previously known as Primary Care Partnership Scheme, so that such needy patients can receive subsidised treatment at General Practitioners (GPs) and dental clinics near their homes. Clinics registered under CHAS provide common medical outpatient treatments for this group of patients, as well as treatment for 15 chronic diseases.
How do I qualify for CHAS?
You must be a Singapore citizen with a per capita household monthly income of $1,800 and below. This is the total household income divided by the number of members in the household.
Conditions covered under CHAS
Common medical conditions such as cough, cold, diarrhoea, headaches, fever are covered under the "Acute conditions".
The Chronic conditions which are covered include:
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Major Depression
- Bipolar Disorder
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
How to apply for CHAS?
Pick up a CHAS form at any Government Hospitals, Polyclinics, Community Centre/Club (CC) or Community Development Council (CDC) office or log onto www.chas.sg to download the form.
